COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Community Guidelines
Last updated: 31 October 2026
A little piece of here, shared with the world.
Every postcard begins with a place, a moment, and someone who chose to share it.
FROM HERE is a space for people to leave little pieces of their lives behind and discover the moments of others. A postcard might capture a familiar street, a distant journey, a passing thought, or a memory that someone wishes to preserve.
We believe every place can hold many stories, and every person deserves the freedom to share theirs with respect and care.
These Community Guidelines explain the standards we expect everyone to follow when using FROM HERE. They help protect the people who make this community what it is, while allowing room for creativity, personal expression, and different perspectives.
By using FROM HERE, you agree to follow these guidelines, along with our Terms of Use.
1. Our Community Values
Our community is built around four values.
Authenticity
Safety
Privacy
Respect
2. What Is Not Allowed
We want FROM HERE to remain open to different voices and experiences. However, certain content and behaviors have no place in our community.
2.1 Violence and Threats
We do not allow content that threatens, encourages, or celebrates violence against individuals or groups.
This includes:
- Threats of physical harm or death.
- Encouraging others to hurt or attack someone.
- Glorifying serious acts of violence in a way that promotes or encourages further harm.
- Content intended to intimidate or make someone fear for their safety.
Artistic, historical, documentary, or educational expressions may be considered in context.
2.2 Bullying and Harassment
Everyone should be able to share their stories without becoming a target.
We do not allow:
- Repeated unwanted contact or targeted harassment.
- Content intended to humiliate, intimidate, or threaten another person.
- Coordinated attacks against individuals.
- Sharing content to encourage others to mock, shame, or harass someone.
- Targeted abuse or intimidation based on a personal disagreement.
Disagreement, criticism, and negative opinions are not automatically harassment. Context, intent, and impact matter.
2.3 Hate Speech and Discrimination
FROM HERE welcomes people from different backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life.
We do not allow content that promotes hatred, dehumanization, or violence against people based on protected characteristics, including race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
This includes:
- Slurs and degrading attacks targeting protected groups.
- Promoting the exclusion or persecution of a group.
- Praising or encouraging violence against people because of who they are.
- Dehumanizing comparisons or imagery intended to portray a group as inferior or dangerous.
Respectful discussion of culture, religion, history, and social issues is welcome.
2.4 Nudity and Sexual Content
We do not allow sexually explicit content or content that exploits or sexually abuses others.
This includes:
- Child sexual abuse material or any sexual exploitation of minors.
- Sexual solicitation or grooming of minors.
- Non-consensual intimate images or sexual content.
- Explicit sexual content intended for sexual gratification.
- Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual advances.
Nudity or artistic representations of the human body may be assessed according to context, applicable law, and the safety of the community.
2.5 Self-Harm and Suicide
We recognize that people may use FROM HERE to express sadness, grief, loneliness, personal struggles, or difficult experiences. Sharing these experiences or seeking support is not prohibited.
However, we do not allow content that:
- Encourages or promotes self-harm or suicide.
- Glorifies or celebrates self-harm or suicide in a way that encourages others to engage in such behavior.
- Provides instructions, methods, or encouragement for self-harm or suicide.
- Encourages another person to hurt themselves or end their life.
Our goal is to protect people from harmful encouragement without silencing those who are expressing pain or seeking connection.
2.6 Privacy Violations
A place can be meaningful without exposing someone’s private life.
We do not allow:
- Publishing someone’s private address, phone number, email, financial information, or other sensitive personal information without authorization.
- Sharing private conversations, personal photographs, or recordings without appropriate permission.
- Revealing someone’s real-time whereabouts or location in a way that puts them at risk.
- Using postcards to expose, track, threaten, or intimidate another person.
Take particular care when sharing photographs of other people, private homes, or places where individuals may reasonably expect privacy. See also our Privacy Policy.
2.7 Impersonation and Misrepresentation
We want people to share their own stories and identities honestly.
We do not allow users to impersonate another person, organization, or public figure in a misleading or deceptive way.
This includes:
- Pretending to be another FROM HERE user.
- Impersonating a friend, family member, or public figure.
- Using another person’s identity or profile information to deceive others.
- Creating accounts intended to mislead, defraud, or harm others.
Anonymous expression is allowed where supported by the Service. Choosing not to reveal your identity is different from pretending to be someone else.
2.8 Illegal Activities and Dangerous Behavior
We do not allow content that facilitates, promotes, or coordinates serious illegal activities or behavior that puts people at risk.
This includes:
- Instructions or encouragement for committing crimes.
- Promoting drug trafficking, human trafficking, or exploitation.
- Encouraging dangerous challenges or activities that could cause serious injury.
- Encouraging trespassing into private property or restricted areas.
- Sharing instructions that facilitate harm to people or property.
You should never put yourself or others in danger to create or publish a postcard.
2.9 Illegal or Restricted Goods
We do not allow the sale, promotion, distribution, or solicitation of illegal or heavily restricted goods and services.
This includes:
- Illegal drugs and controlled substances.
- Prohibited weapons and explosives.
- Stolen or counterfeit goods.
- Other goods or services whose sale or distribution is prohibited by applicable law.
We may remove content that facilitates the exchange of such goods or services.
2.10 Intellectual Property Violations
Respect the creative work of others.
Only share photographs, drawings, writing, and other materials that you own or have permission to use.
We do not allow:
- Copying or publishing another person’s work without authorization.
- Using copyrighted material in ways that infringe the rights of its owner.
- Impersonating artists or falsely claiming ownership of someone else’s work.
- Using another person’s identity or likeness in a misleading or harmful way.
If you believe your intellectual property has been used without permission, please contact us at support@fromhere.space.
2.11 Spam, Scams, and Deceptive Behavior
FROM HERE is a place for meaningful moments, not manipulation.
We do not allow:
- Repetitive, unsolicited advertising or promotional content.
- Fraudulent schemes, phishing, or attempts to steal personal information.
- Misleading links or deceptive messages.
- Fake engagement, automated spam, or coordinated manipulation.
- Using multiple accounts to evade restrictions or abuse the community.
2.12 Respect the Places You Share
Every postcard is connected to a place. We ask you to treat those places with care.
We do not allow content that:
- Encourages damage to public or private property.
- Promotes entering dangerous, restricted, or private locations without authorization.
- Reveals sensitive locations in ways that could endanger people, wildlife, or protected sites.
- Uses location information to facilitate stalking, harassment, or other harmful activities.
A location should help tell a story, not become a reason someone is put at risk.
3. Context Matters
We recognize that people use postcards to express a wide range of emotions, experiences, and ideas.
Not every difficult, controversial, or uncomfortable expression violates these guidelines.
For example:
- Sharing sadness, grief, loneliness, or personal struggles is welcome.
- Discussing historical events, conflict, or social issues is allowed when presented responsibly.
- Expressing criticism or disagreement is allowed, provided it does not become targeted harassment or hate speech.
- Artistic, fictional, documentary, and educational content may require consideration of its context.
- Expressing personal opinions about a place, culture, or experience is generally allowed, provided it does not violate other parts of these guidelines.
When reviewing content, we consider its meaning, context, intent, potential impact, and applicable rules rather than relying only on individual words or images.
We aim to protect people from harm without unnecessarily limiting genuine expression.
4. Your Responsibility
You are responsible for the postcards and other content you create, upload, send, or publish through FROM HERE.
Before sharing a postcard, please consider:
- Do I have the right to share this content?
- Does it reveal someone else’s private information?
- Could it threaten, target, or harm another person?
- Am I sharing this location responsibly?
- Would I be comfortable with someone discovering this postcard in this place?
Please remember that public postcards may be discovered by people you do not know. Only publish information and content that you are comfortable making public.
5. Reporting Violations
If you encounter a postcard or behavior that you believe violates these guidelines, please report it to us.
You can contact us at:
When submitting a report, please include:
- A description of the content or behavior.
- The postcard or account involved, if available.
- The reason you believe it violates these guidelines.
- Screenshots or other relevant information, if available.
Please provide accurate information. Abusing the reporting process or knowingly submitting false reports may itself violate these guidelines.
We review reports based on their content, context, severity, and potential risk. Submitting a report does not automatically mean that content will be removed.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency services rather than relying on FROM HERE to respond.
6. How We Enforce These Guidelines
We may review reported content and take action when we determine that these guidelines or our Terms of Use have been violated.
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, actions may include:
- Removing or restricting access to a postcard.
- Removing content from the public map or Nearby discovery.
- Issuing a warning.
- Temporarily restricting certain account features.
- Suspending an account.
- Permanently disabling an account for serious or repeated violations.
For serious threats, exploitation, or other urgent safety concerns, we may take immediate action without prior warning.
When deciding how to respond, we may consider:
- The severity and potential harm of the violation.
- Whether the behavior was intentional.
- Whether the behavior is repeated.
- Whether the user has previously received warnings or restrictions.
- The surrounding context and any relevant information provided.
We aim to apply these guidelines fairly and consistently. We may also take action when necessary to protect users, comply with applicable laws, or maintain the safety and integrity of the Service.
7. Appeals and Questions
If you believe we have made a mistake in reviewing your content or taking action against your account, you may contact us at support@fromhere.space.
Please explain the action you are appealing and why you believe it should be reconsidered.
We will review appeals in good faith, taking into account the available information and relevant context.
8. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines as FROM HERE grows, our features evolve, or our community needs change.
When we make significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users. The latest version will always be available on our website.
Continued use of FROM HERE after updated guidelines take effect means you acknowledge the revised guidelines.
